    Reporting to the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Processing, the Engineer or Specialist, Processing (Water Operations) is responsible for process data analysis and execution of test programs at various water treatment facilities in the Elk Valley, supporting a rapidly expanding operations team.

    To be successful, we are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful leader with exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, who can effectively engage with professionals across departments and at varying levels of the organization. Someone with strong attention to detail, problem-solving, troubleshooting, decision-making, analytical and organizational abilities. This position requires a flexible individual who can adapt to changing needs in fast-paced environment, and who can work with nominal supervision using a collaborative approach on a team that tackles complex and novel issues. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who can drive and keep pace with change and innovation.

    Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Work as a part of a highly collaborative team with a focus on delivering value and promoting sharing of best practices across Water Operations
  • Provide visible felt leadership through frequent engagement with operational personnel
  • Analyze data from assigned operations/projects and make recommendations for process improvement through regular presentations
  • Develop test plans, provide oversight, and actively participate in test execution – including working closely with operations to develop operating work instructions, management and data analysis of test results, and documentation of results through formal reports
  • Participate in the Management of Change process including documentation and risk analysis
  • Qualifications:

  • Science degree or diploma in engineering such as chemical, biological, mineral, or civil
  • Registered, or working towards registration as a qualified professional (e.g. P.Eng., P.L.Eng, P.Tech, P.Chem)
  • Minimum three years work experience with a focus on water treatment
  • Previous work experience in heavy industry
  • Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals including mass balances, fluid mechanics, and equipment sizing/selection
  • Facility commissioning/operation experience is a strong asset
  • Experience with selenium, nitrate and sulphate treatment is a strong asset

    The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
