Your Opportunity:


Reporting to the Manager, Tobacco Vaping and Cannabis Program, the HPFI Enforcement Coordinator works as part of an interdisciplinary team that aims to reduce the use of commercial tobacco and vaping products by youth in Alberta through enforcement and compliance of Alberta's Tobacco and Vaping Reduction Act.

This unit is co-led along with Safe and Healthy Environments and is comprised of a Unit Manager, Health Inspectors, Peace Officers and Enforcement Coordinators.

The position requires significant engagement with provincial stakeholder groups, both internal and external to AHS.

The Enforcement Coordinator works closely with the Manager, Enforcement Unit and other unit staff to achieve program goals and strategic directions.

The incumbent will prepare work plans, budgets and year end reports for projects and programs, participates in strategic planning for to ensure accomplishing program goals.

Assumes a leadership role while working on community collaborations. Participates in the orientation and training of students and staff. Responds to issues brought forward by stakeholders. Experience facilitating diverse groups of stakeholders and establishing collaborative relationships. Ability to work independently as well as part of an interdisciplinary team.


Description:

As a Health Promotion Facilitator I, you will assist communities to be healthier through mentoring, advocacy and education.

You will link individuals and/or communities to relevant health resources within the region or province and work with community partners to access, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion strategies.

You will participate in special studies and/or research projects and review health-related data and identify trends relative to population health and at risk groups.

You will facilitate the development and/or implementation of program specific guidelines in partnership with other stakeholders. You will plan, develop and facilitate workshops, seminars and presentations for staff and communities. You will prepare work plans, budgets and year end reports and provide input for departmental goals and strategies.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Health Education or a related field.


Additional Required Qualifications:


Minimum three (3) to five (5) years' experience in relevant health promotion or population / public health or community-based experience.

Broad knowledge in reducing commercial tobacco and vaping along with harm reduction strategies for cannabis use. Experience in both change and project management.

Experience in developing frameworks, reports, plans and other related products such as literature reviews, situational and needs analyses, logic models and grant/funding proposals.

Community development experience, including ability to conduct jurisdictional scans, hold community consultations, and develop community capacity.
