GS1 Canada is looking for an Human Resources (HR) Administrator to play a critical role on the Human Resources team.

You are determined, energetic, and a problem-solver with a keen eye for detail.

As an HR Administrator, you will support all aspects of the human resources function by delivering on the administrative components of people initiatives, processes, and solutions to support GS1 Canada's operational business growth.

As a part of this team, you will ensure effective day-to-day service delivery and support with, payroll, compensations & benefits, leave & attendance tracking, recruitment, and onboarding, and maintaining employee records.


This hands-on role will increase the awareness, and engagement of HR efforts to employees across all levels of the business across two office locations.

While GS1 Canada supports a hybrid work environment, members of the Human Resources team must be available to employees on-site on an ad-hoc or scheduled basis as required.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Represent GS1 Canada's culture and values while collaborating with all business partners across the organization.
  • Ensure the data integrity and privacy of electronic employee records; ensure ongoing compliance for all HR data as it relates to SOC2 and other necessary regulatory standards.
  • Act as the point of contact for employee inquiries i.e. ADP Workforce Now, benefits, payroll processing, absence and leave management, short term disability, long term disability LTD etc. in accordance with GS1 Canada's policies and relevant provincial legislation
  • Draft employee letters i.e. title change, promotion, lateral moves etc. and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure changes are reflected throughout the business (i.e., employee communications, updating signatures etc.)
  • Maintain HR data integrity and manage administrative tasks as needed, while continuously looking for ways to automate, standardize and/or improve these tasks
  • Assist in processing payroll and benefits information, including status changes; liaise with payroll to ensure all information is accurate.
  • Support with screening resumes and coordinating interviews.
  • Support new hire onboarding tasks such as ensuring all new hire documents are completed, all necessary information is shared with key stakeholders, new hire communications are sent out in a timely manner etc.
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Stay on top of HR trends, key employment legislations, and proactively make recommendations for improvement.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:


  • Completion of postsecondary education (College or University) specializing in Human Resources Management
  • 2 to 3 years' experience in administration in a customer focused environment.
  • Ability to comfortably build relationship across all levels in the organization and manage stakeholder expectations in a calm, confident, and respectful manner.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of provincial employment legislation especially Ontario and Quebec
  • Proven ability to quickly adapt and learn new HR policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to stay organized in a fastpaced environment where attention to detail and accuracy are key
  • Proven ability to take initiative with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
  • Bilingualism (French & English) an asset.
