OPEN POSITIONS:
RAILCAR BLASTER
GATX Rail Canada is looking for individuals to fill several full-time positions as RAILCAR BLASTER for its railcars maintenance facility located at 9300 Boulevard Maurice Duplessis in Montreal, Quebec.
The individuals on these roles operate the blast equipment to remove paint, dirt, scale and other materials from inside and/or outside of railcars and associated parts with abrasive steel grit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
***- Adjust blasting equipment, change hoses and fittings as needed
- Execute assigned tasks according to the Health and Safety directives at GATX, in particular with the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (protective clothing, helmets, goggles, gangs, etc.);
- Inspect the quality of the work performed our customers has been carried out in a timely manner and according to GATX standards
- Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
- Support ongoing awareness in Health and Safety and where possible recommend changes and improvements to existing policies and programs.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (including certifications):
- At least a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as repair manuals, instructions, work orders, etc...
- Ability to work effectively individually and / or in groups
- Initiative: Have a personal motivation and autonomy to determine and carry out important tasks
- Diligence and reliability at work: be able to complete all hours of work, rarely absent and be able to complete all assigned tasks at a reasonable period of time.
- Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods
- Must be able to lift (vertically) up to 85 pounds from the ground surface
- Must be able to push / pull (horizontally) up to 140 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights
- Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate, hearing protection must be worn.
- Must be able to physically enter confined space (rail car manways as small as 18" in diameter) and work in enclosed environments.
WORK SHIFTS
Morning Shift:
Monday to Friday: 6:00AM - 2:30PM
Afternoon Shift:
Monday to Thursday: 2:30 PM -1:00 AM
