Description:


The Manager will act as a steward and directly oversee the development, implementation and progression of the Student Information Systems products, effectively reinforcing an agile product delivery framework with a goal to increasing client satisfaction levels and ideating improved service delivery models.


The Manager will work closely with other managers within SIS, other EASI project delivery & technical architecture teams, key stakeholders, and ITS partners to recommend and design EASI technical solutions and develop actionable plans to implement, support those systems and/or services.

They will serve as a trusted adviser and consultant, to inform key stakeholders on optimal technical solutions and processes, ensuring recommendations align with University and ITS strategic plans.


Qualifications:


EDUCATION:

University degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE:


Minimum of 8 years' experience in systems analysis and programming, with at least 5 years of Java experience, and familiarity with TypeScript, JavaScript, and frameworks such as Angular with Java certification an asset.

Minimum 2 years in product management, project management and/or as Team Technical Lead required.

Demonstrated management experience, preferably in a unionized environment, with an ability to manage human resources issues and with responsibility for establishing technical work plans and managing project deliverables.

Extensive experience in software testing procedures from systems testing through user acceptance. Proven success in achieving coherence across solutions developed by a diverse team of developers.


SKILLS:


  • Ability to use a variety of tools is required: Intellij, VS Code, Git, Ant, Maven, Tomcat, Open JDK, Docker, Azure Cloud services
  • Experience with some if not all of the following frameworks: RESTbased services, Angular, Spring, JPA, OJB
  • Experience with DB2 databases, MongoDB, Azure SQL Database or other relational databases required.
  • Experience with the Agile methodologies and project management techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of Microservices architecture and familiarity with the Strangler Fig pattern is required.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, such as those included with Microsoft 36
  • Demonstrated skills to simultaneously lead multiple complex projects in ambiguous situations, with multiple interruption and conflicting deadlines.
  • Superior organizational skills in planning, project management and task coordination.
  • Adept at conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Strong ability to elicit cooperation and collaboration from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, stakeholders, and other departments
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills with strong ability to exercise judgement, tact, discretion and determination
  • Experience with DB2 databases or other relational databases required.
  • Excellent knowledge of systems analysis, specification techniques, and implementation strategies as well as a solid knowledge of programming techniques is required.
  • Experience with the Agile Scrum development methodology is desired
  • Excellent understanding of RESTbased service design and testdriven development (TDD) is required.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Excel, Word, MS Project.
