    General Accountabilities
Reporting to the Manager/Team Lead of Safety By Design, the position has the following accountabilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and track ongoing action items and deliverables, and ensure progress, and schedule are reported and re-forecasted.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to staff to complete forms and templates for safety reporting.
  • Perform evaluation/analysis of deliverables, and monitor process compliance, internal controls, and systems.
  • Assist in devising, developing, analyzing, establishing and implementing new strategies, policies, processes, procedures and management systems in order to satisfy the needs of the following areas: approval process, business plans, budget, management reporting, performance management, internal controls, evaluations and organizational authority.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and specifications, and compile and analyze business information relative to the plans and performance, and input data into dashboard for organizational reporting.
  • Assist in defining requirements and evaluating outputs produced each year with the objective of providing a clearer picture of ongoing work and the benefits.
  • Assist in the research, analysis of problems, and development and sustainment of strategies, alternatives and preferred solutions.
  • Receive assignments from Supervisor in broad terms on specific problems related to assigned area of work. Research available resources and propose effective recommendations.
  • Support Supervisor to ensure objectives are achieved within the approved policy and acceptable business practices of Hydro One
  • Support the performance measuring and monitoring systems and assist with the implementation of upgrades to performance measurement systems and monitor performance in comparison with targeted objectives. Coordinate collection of variance explanations and prepare monthly division performance reports.
  • Prepare training/presentation documentation and facilitate/administer training sessions to varying audiences
  • Requires working with various personnel in various segments of the corporation to discuss, coordinate and control safety by design deliverables.
  • Requires influencing staff to adopt a point of view contradictory to their own in order to reach an agreement on solutions.
  • Participate in regular review and progress meetings, and prepare minutes of meetings.
  • Perform other duties as required

Selection Criteria, Education and Qualifications:


Education:


  • Knowledge of technical writing to prepare effective reports.
  • Strong communication skills to prepare and deliver effective presentations.


This knowledge is considered to be acquired through completion of a 3 years of college training or a university degree.


Experience:


  • Electrical power system operational requirements, policies, practices and procedures governing transmission/distribution/information assets.
  • Related to the design, performance, commissioning, operation and maintenance of transmission/distribution/information assets.
  • To be familiar with the operation, and maintenance of power systems dealing with customers and suppliers.
  • To be familiar with the development and organization of methods and work.
  • To be familiar with the scope and responsibilities of the position,
  • Transmission and distribution facilities, organization and operation of related work groups.
  • An understanding of transmission and distribution systems in Ontario and the technical standards used by electrical utilities.
A period of over 8 years and up to and including 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience
