Description

Reporting to the Customer Experience Manager, the Recreation Facility Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of Fitness Membership Programs, Service and Facility Rentals and coordination of facility maintenance and repair.

They will act as the main point of contact for Recreation Experience Representatives, Personal Trainers, Fitness and Sport Instructors and will train, schedule and supervise staff.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Recreation Facility Coordinator is a key leader in the Recreation Department and key responsibilities include:

  • Ensures compliance of legislated requirements for fitness, pool and spa operations and coordination / oversight of regular and preventative maintence for the Accora Centre facilities and equipment.
  • Ensuring sports and fitness programs are implemented according to relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Reporting Membership, Fitness, Sport and Facility and Equipment Rental results and proactively introducing programs and services to improve financial performance of the Recreation Centre.
  • Assisting in the development of recreation program framework to promote an active and engaged community and attract and retain our target demographics.
  • Auditing programs and services, soliciting feedback and implementing quality improvement strategies as required.
  • Promoting Membership, Fitness, Sport and Facility and Equipment Rental and providing content for community newsletters, our resident website portal, and community display boards.
  • Contributing to a cohesive team and promote a positive work environment.
  • Modeling and ensuring the Recreation Experience Representatives and Sports and Fitness Instructors are providing exceptional Customer Service.
  • Providing advice, guidance and sharing expertise to improve program quality, and promote professional development of the team.
  • Promoting a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Participating in corporate events and activities designed to foster connection with and among residents, employee groups, along with external stakeholders and community partners.

AUTHORITY:


  • Set position descriptions, hires direct reports and supervises their work.
  • Completes Quarterly coaching and annual performance reviews for their direct reports.
  • Provides recommendations to Customer Experience Manager regarding annual employee progression increases and bonuses for direct reports.
  • Contributes to the development of annual divisional operating priorities and plans.
  • Contributes to development of divisional operation budget.
  • Authorizes expenditures and enters contracts in accordance with the Ferguslea's policy.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:


  • Postsecondary education in Sports, Recreation, Leisure or related field an asset.
  • 1 year experience providing recreation, fitness and/or sport programs or equivalent and minimum of 1 year in supervisory position.
  • Strong understanding of sports and fitness concepts and best practices.
  • Understanding of health and safety legistlation related to fitness centre, pool and spa operations.
  • Proficiency with Ms Office and experience using Yardi and PerfectMind an asset.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to create and lead highperforming team.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Extended periods at a computer may be required at times.
  • Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
  • Competing demands may create stress.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Physical effort is mínimal.
  • Travel is mínimal. May be required to attend special events.
