The
Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario's capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act.

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.

This mandate is performed through policy, operational, adjudication and enforcement work. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.


Our
Human Resources Branch provides the OSC with strategic and operational advice and services on the planning, acquisition and development of OSC talent, total compensation planning and administration, performance management and overall organizational development.

The Branch is comprised of the following business units:

Human Resources and Organizational Development; Business Planning & Reporting; Administration; Knowledge Services; Records & Information Management; and Inclusion & Diversity.

Reporting to the Manager, HR Advisory Services and Support, the
HR Advisory Summer Student will be providing administrative, informative, and coordinating support which may include some or all of the various areas of HR such as talent acquisition and retention, ERP implementation, workforce analytics, and any other projects related to HR modernization

  • Provide regular coordination and operational support to the HR team members in their timely delivery of programs, services, initiatives, and projects, such as the ongoing ERP implementation, weekly job opportunities circular, etc.
  • Support the team by conducting research, gathering data, collecting, and summarizing background information and preparing related materials, such as presentations, reports, etc. as needed.
  • Support HR recruitment efforts
- help source, screen, and develop interview materials

  • Assist in the coordination of onboarding process activities including following up with the new hires with onboarding information, tracking and saving new hire documentation in appropriate folders.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • In process of completing an undergraduate or graduate degree in human resources, or a related field of study.
  • Have knowledge of employment legislation, HR best practices, and current developments.
  • Experience using applicant tracking system and information systems/database an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate important information with attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
  • Excellent presentation skills, problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with diverse parties
