Position Overview:


The Bilingual Specialist, Copywriting and Content Creation will report directly to the Director, Marketing and Communications and work closely with the Marketing and Communications team.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Copywriter who is fluent in both French and English to join our team.

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure accurate translations of organizational content and documentation from English to French and vice versa.

Additionally, the Copywriter will serve as an interpreter, offering valuable interpretation services to program applicants and participants who require language assistance.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:


Translation Services:


  • Translate organizational documentation, including reports, newsletters, and promotional materials, from English to French and vice versa.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and cultural sensitivity in all translated content.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify translation needs and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Provide a biweekly status updates, communicate any challenges or milestones to key stakeholders
  • Review "Project Guide" to ensure accuracy and up to date naming conventions.
  • Collaboratively create and maintain a complete list of translation documents, pulling in existing documents and updating/creating new ones as necessary.
  • With support from your team, prepare documents for translations, ensure proper naming conventions are followed and that documents are submitted and reviewed on time.

  • Act as a liaison between thirdparty translation portal and teams, transitioning staff from using this portal to your internal services when possible.
  • Support teams in ensuring translated text is inputted into its designed format for all presentations and advertising as required.
  • Conduct thorough proofreading and editing to maintain high linguistic standards in all written and translated content.
  • Create clear, concise, and userfriendly technical documents, manuals, and guides.

Content Creation/Brand Consistency:


  • Tailor content to specific target audiences, ensuring messages resonate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Uphold the organization's brand voice, style, and tone in all written materials and ensure consistency across different communication channels.
  • Utilize current French Translation documents as a foundation for all future employer branding/content creation, will keep abreast of market trends and update these foundational documents as necessary

Interpretation Services:


  • Provide interpretation support for program applicants and participants with language requirements during meetings, events, and workshops.
  • Facilitate effective communication between parties, ensuring everyone can fully participate in the organization's activities.

Collaboration:


  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams, including Marketing and Communications, Programs, Education as well as Outreach and Engagement, to understand their needs and align content accordingly.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and content planning meetings to contribute creative ideas and strategies.
  • Support crossdepartmentally as primary French Committee liason

Who you are

  • 3+ years experience in content creation for the Quebec market in a copywriter position or similar within an organization that advertises in both French and English speaking markets across Canada.
  • Bachelor's degree in languages, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • Proficiency in both French and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Proven experience in translation, technical writing, and content creation.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and social impact initiatives is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and accommodate linguistic and cultural nuances.
