JOB SUMMARY:


As a Tax Analyst, you will work with the Finance team and D2L's tax department to meet tax compliance obligations, prepare tax provisions, manage the company's Indirect Tax function, and provide analytical support for D2L's global operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining D2L's tax compliance in good standing by meeting tax filing and payment deadlines for various types of taxes including income taxes, indirect taxes, gross profit taxes, franchise taxes, etc.

You will assist the tax department in quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with IFRS. You will perform tax research and provide recommendations to support key business initiatives.


HOW WILL I MAKE AN IMPACT?

  • Preparation of income or nonincome based tax returns in various global jurisdictions
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with IFRS
  • Manage the indirect tax function for our current operations
  • Assist our Sales, Proposal and Billing teams in all indirect tax and foreign tax withholding matters
  • Ensure compliance, and proper tax recordkeeping in relation of tax payments, informational tax filings, and other tax authority requirements
  • Perform technical tax planning for M&A and/or key business initiatives, as required
  • Stay current on important global tax developments and assess impact specifically to D2L current or planned future operations
  • Advise on relevant US/Canada cross border tax issues
  • Assist with audit inquiries from tax regulatory authorities, as required

WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • 5+ years' experience in a global taxation specially with Canadian and USA tax
  • A high degree of independent judgement is required
  • Strong tax compliance record, ability to meet and manage multiple deadlines in multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong Excel skills, proven ability to organize and analyze large sets of data into insights
  • You are organized and have the ability to balance multiple priorities in a challenging, fastpaced environment
  • You solve cross functional problems with consideration to the broader impact of decisions and actions
  • You have a strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to act as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders
  • You have excellent analytical and problemsolving skills allowing you to solve complex problems and make can make sound decisions.

Work Experience Recommendations:


  • Experience in the software industry is an asset
  • Experience with a global, multicurrency organization is an asset
  • Experience with a public company is an asset
  • Experience with IFRS or US GAAP is highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Education Recommendations:


  • University degree or equivalent in business or commerce
  • CPA designated
  • Completion of In-Depth Tax Course Part I and II is highly desired
