About the role:


As an Early Childhood Educator at Compass ELC,
you'll join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to nurturing young minds.

Your role involves engaging with children, families, and community partners to create enriching learning experiences. As a school-age educator you will work in either the primary, junior, or kinder school-age rooms.

This role will work in a split shift from Monday to Friday for before and after school programming with some additional hours in between.

This role will have full time hours (up to 40) during PA days, Winter break, March Break, and Summer Camp.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and lead interestbased and playbased activities that reflect children's unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Documenting children's learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and wellbeing of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:


Requirements:


  • 13 years' experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications including: Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and Updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • OR; has a postsecondary degree in a similar field (i.e., Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Social Service Work, Bachelor of Education, etc.)
  • OR; is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
