Payroll Assistant Career Opportunity
The Dufresne Group is currently seeking a Payroll Assistant for our Payroll Team within our Accounting Office located at 147 Commerce Drive in Winnipeg, MB.
As a Payroll Assistant you will be responsible for efficiently and accurately assisting Payroll Administrators with the bi-weekly processing of payroll for our stores, home office and distribution centers across all provinces to ensure the accurate payment of wages to employees within the framework of current and appropriate legislation.

As a Payroll Assistant, you will:
Gather, calculate and input payroll information (i.e. hours worked, statutory holiday pay, sick pay) into the payroll system for a select group of stores
Complete various reports for payroll functions as required
Set up new hires and terminations in payroll and benefit systems
Be responsible for administration, maintenance and reconciliation of various staff deductions
Respond to internal queries regarding employees pay cheques or payroll procedures
Be responsible for filing, safekeeping, maintenance and confidentiality of employee files
Completion of various reports for payroll functions, Special Projects and other duties as assigned
High school diploma with post-secondary education in office administration preferred, Payroll experience a definite asset
Currently enrolled in payroll/accounting courses with plans to obtain CPA certification
Must possess basic accounting knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
Must have strong attention to detail, analytical and problem resolution skills
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external customers
Ability to meet tight deadlines while working with mínimal supervision
Proficient in MS Office products and ability to learn in-house computer programs
Strong teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Must be able to handle personal and confidential information with a high degree of care and professionalism
Strong sense of urgency, ability to multi-task
