Wage:
$16.52/hour (includes bonus system); personal vehicle compensation and gas provided (when applicable)

Company Background
West Nile Virus (WNV) is a mosquito-borne illness that has the potential to affect human health.

It was first introduced to North America in 1999, and in 2002 the first human case of WNV infection was confirmed in Ontario.

In 2004, and in response to an emerging threat, the Canadian Centre for Mosquito Management formed a partnership with Public Health Units across Southern Ontario to develop a fully integrated program of surveillance, public education, and vector management.

Mosquito larviciding remains a key component of this vector management strategy, and in particular the abatement of mosquitoes in the extensive network of storm-water catch basins and in surface waters located on public properties.

The Canadian Centre for Mosquito Management is a company that is dedicated to the single purpose of mosquito control. This unique focus has helped us to become one of the largest mosquito control providers in Canada.

Position Summary
The individual is expected to work independently, often well removed from their base of operation, in an outdoor environment.

Therefore, preplanning of daily activities, proper maintenance and organization of equipment, and maintaining appropriate supply of materials and other essential items is important.

This position is entrusted with the use of pesticides applied in accordance with Provincial licenses.

We are looking for hard-working individuals for this role in our West Nile Virus mosquito control programs in the following areas: York Region, Toronto, Durham Region and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph.

The abatement programs are contracted by the local Regional Health Units. There are 1-2 positions available in each Region, with varying terms of employment and shifts. The term of employment is from approximately mid-May until the end of September.

Technicians will work +/- 40 hours/week, and can expect their work to begin early in the day, with some weekend work and travel to neighbouring municipalities required, therefore a flexible schedule is a must.

Access to a personal vehicle is required.
