Drafting Technician Job Purpose:

Drafting technicians prepare architectural designs, technical drawings, and related information for the manufacture and installation of architectural wall systems.

Drafting Technician Job Duties:

Operate computeraided design (AutoCAD) work station.
Prepare and develop design drawings, costs, and material estimates.
Check and verify design drawings conform to specifications and design data.
Produce drawing sets and accompanying documentation for manufacture & installation.

Qualifications:

Drafting Technician Skills/Qualifications:

Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, and technical drawing experience.
Degree or diploma in AutoCAD training, or related architectural or engineering fields.
Comfortable with math and physics for commercial construction.
Problemsolving skills; ability to learn quickly and work independently; attention to detail.
Ability to visualize threedimensional objects from twodimensional drawings and the relationships between parts and assemblies in various systems.
Ability to communicate and work with professionals, tradespersons, and clients.
Artistic ability, or experience with graphic design or visual media is an asset.
Ability to work under pressure.
Comfortable in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel.
MS Access experience would be helpful, not necessary.
