Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Communications & Brand, this position is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining an operational corporate communications plan.
Working with the Director, Corporate Communications & Brand, this position is responsible for ensuring that CAPREIT's external reputation is maintained through contributions to and the development of corporate communications materials, proactive social media relations, and investors' communications.
Responsibilities:
Corporate Communication Management (30%)
- Develop, implement and evolve
bestinclass communications strategies, tactics, key messages and metrics that support CAPREIT's priorities and enhance engagement with our corporate community; - Contribute to the success of the overall goals of the Corporate Communications & Brand team, as well as Marketing and Operations by supporting brand and sponsorship initiatives;
- Gain insight and perspective into the Real Estate industry by sourcing and developing interesting and engaging content for CAPREIT's external communication channels
- Actively monitor daily global, traditional and social media for relevant news and developments; prepare weekly and quarterly media monitoring reports;
- Use metrics and reporting to track internal results, measure effectiveness, and identify needs; leverage results to make recommendations and refine communications approach.
- Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure strong brand presence across all media platforms, including our company website;
- Proactively identify and recommend stories for internal and external audiences in alignment with our value proposition.
- Identify sector trends for Awards to reinforce corporate image and reputation
- Define an internal process for the submission of Awards (e.g. FRPO);
- Manages the submission of external awards when required;
- Provide day‐to‐day support for Investor Relations using a high degree of sensitivity and discretion in dealing with confidential and proprietary matters;
- Coordinate the quarterly financial results disclosure process and assist in the drafting, preparation and proofreading of materials, contributing to press releases, internal communications, scripts and presentation materials;
- Proofread, fact check and liaise between teams to gather information and ensure that quarterly and annual reporting obligations are met in an accurate and thorough manner;
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years working experience in a corporate communications or HR role in a complex, dynamic, knowledgebased environment.
- University degree or diploma in a communications discipline and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience;
- Professional writing experience, with a proven ability to distill complex data into a clear narrative for stakeholders;
- Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), along with a willingness and ability to learn new software;
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, InDesign, and the capacity to learn other custom software as required;
- Selfmotivated with excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities with mínimal supervision;
- Financial literacy and familiarity with financial statements and related disclosures;
- Professional demeanor to deal effectively with senior IR, legal and finance team members, as well as external vendors and other stakeholders;
- Adamant about the link between brand and culture
- Knowledge of and interest in both traditional and social media
- Creative and analytical thinker who is selfdriven and capable of working in a fastpaced environment
- Specialized experience working with institutional investors and investment managers, and experience in a Investor Relations would be an asset
- Demonstrated experience in communications to analyze or evaluate communication needs and develop resultsoriented communications plans
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to exchange and transform complex and technical information and ability to effectively present information in a clear, concise, easy to understand manner and format
- Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate partnerships and work collaboratively in a team, and with executives, stakeholders, vendors, and business partners on crossfunctional project teams
- Planning skills to develop programs, establish priorities and coordinate efforts with internal staff and external contacts
- Strategic thinking skills to input into annual and longerterm strategy planning initiatives
- Ability to identify trends and opportunities and think outsidethebox to implement creative solutions, enhancements, and innovation.
