The Opportunity:

Join our team as an HR Summer Student and immerse yourself in the dynamic world of Talent Management at McElhanney for a summer placement.

This temporary position from May to August, will give you exposure to talent management as a specialty in the field of HR, experience in a professional services environment, and the opportunity to make an impact on our employee experience as we transition to skills-based hiring & employee development.

In this position, you will support McElhanney's Talent Management team in employee engagement action planning, recruitment, and learning & career development resourcing.

This position offers in-office options in three locations: Edmonton, Victoria, and Vancouver, with the additional flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement.


What You'll Be Doing:
  • Assist in curating and cataloguing skillsbased employee development resources.
  • Support in the data analysis and execution of employee engagement action planning.
  • Collaborate with the recruitment team in developing and maintaining a new interview resource library and talent assessments.
  • Assist with people data analytics projects.
  • Support ad hoc HR projects and initiatives as needed.

Skills And Attributes For Success:
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with a diverse group of colleagues to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
  • Manage relationships: Collaborate with internal teams to build trust and understand their needs.
  • Manage resources: Develop and implement strategies to optimize the allocation of your time and resources.
  • Business knowledge: Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to develop internal resources that support the needs of the business.
  • Identify solutions: Identify areas for improvement through observation and feedback.

What You'll Bring:
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's degree program in Human Resources.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint).
