PRIMARY ASSIGNMENTS:

Highly skilled in operating heavy equipment (excavator/skid steer) safely and efficiently, excavating and backfilling trenches, performing site grading, loading trucks, finishing grading, excavating around utilities, etc.
Efficient operation of a CAT 305 and a 308 excavator.
Expose existing utilities, utilize mechanical and handdigging, and conduct trench work meeting OH&S requirements.
Assist in operating for sewer and water service pipe installations.
Work with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe on grade.
Ensure trench is to the proper depth and grade.
Follow directions regarding craning, compaction, gravel placement, and grading.
Operate excavator on public roadways, tight residential areas, commercial properties, and municipalities, maintaining proper awareness of one's surroundings.
Complete daily equipment maintenance checks, preand posttrips, and logs. Seethrough that routine maintenance is completed.
Top off fluids and complete minor maintenance of equipment.
General job setup, site cleanup, and materials removal.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 2 years of excavator experience is required.
Must be comfortable excavating in close proximity to existing utilities. Minimum 1year of experience digging around live utilities.
Sewer and water experience will be considered an asset.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a clean abstract; personal reliable transportation.
Must be punctual and dependable.
Understanding of, and adherence to construction procedure and safety practices.
Strong communication, including verbal and hand signals.
Knowledge of proper lifting and transfer of heavy loads.

Salary:
$25.00-$35.00 per hour
