Summit Veterinary Pharmacy is seeking One full-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our busy Custom Compound Department team.


Located in Aurora, Ontario, Summit has been supplying prescription compounded medications to veterinary clinics across Canada for over 20 years.

Our mission is to set the standard for excellence in veterinary compounding; enabling veterinarians to fulfill their commitment to their clients' health and well-being.


Principle Responsibilities:


  • Verify the prescription's accuracy with the hard copy.
  • Verify the calculated label with the hard copy for accuracy.
  • Compound prescriptions in their designated area (Chewable Treats, Small Suspensions
  • Powders, Custom Capsules, TDG, Hazardous).
  • Safely operate all equipment in the area, ensuring all SOPs are followed.
  • Weigh all prescription ingredients using the analytical scale.
  • Prep the required ingredients for each compound.
  • Perform manual written calculations using the correct formula in the absence of a calculation label.
  • Perform weight validations as required to validate the accuracy of compounding.
  • Dispense the finished compound in the appropriate packaging, ensuring it is clean and pharmaceutically elegant.
  • Label the compounded preparation [Rx label, cautionary labels and auxiliary label(s)].
  • Maintain an adequate stock of supplies.
  • Complete the daily area checklist and maintain the general cleanliness of the area.
  • Ensure all items are replenished as required.
  • Determine the fill weights of all new lot products and record on the s drive/update capsule calculator/chart
  • Record expired/failed drugs in the Drug Destruction Log and dispose of them accordingly.
  • Assist in other areas during slow periods as outlined by your Manager or Senior Manager.

Educational Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent

Schedule:


  • Monday to Friday
  • Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Morning Shift : 6:00am to 2:30pm

From $19.00 per hour
