Health and Data Librarian

Tenure-Track Position
individuals for a tenure-track faculty position as liaison librarian for health programs. The librarian will

also be responsible for research data management and data and statistics for all university programs.
The preferred start date is October 1, 2024, or as negotiated.


The Health and Data Librarian will, for their areas of responsibility:

  • Provide specialized information services.
  • Advance strategies related to decolonizing the library.
  • Design and deliver information literacy sessions online and in person.
  • Actively engage in the development and maintenance of the library collection.
  • Enhance the e-learning environment that supports library instruction and research.
  • Develop and maintain website content.
  • Participate in the provision of general reference services.
  • Develop and conduct a program of scholarly activity.
  • Contribute to university governance.
  • A master's degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information resources, research data and statistical
resources.


  • Experience incorporating indigenization principles into library practice.
  • Current knowledge of library and e-learning trends and technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written (English and French).
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
A master's degree in the health sciences and experience with research data and statistics from previous

library or work experience, preferably two years, will be an asset.

University, and the broader community.

The personnel of the Library and Archives strive to support student learning and faculty teaching and

research by developing rich library and archival collections, both physical and digital; by providing
information literacy instruction and point-of-need assistance in a variety of formats; by maintaining safe

and comfortable study spaces for individuals and groups; and by offering more specialized services around
data, archival fonds, publications, and more. The Library and Archives service points include the J.N.

Desmarais Library, the Laurentian University Archives, the Architecture Library, and the Education Resource
Centre.

Laurentian University, located on Atikameksheng Anishnawbek territory in Sudbury, Ontario, serves over
8000 students and is one of two bilingual universities in the province of Ontario. Committed to its
