We are currently recruiting for a
Safety Advisor to support our Health and Safety activities at our
Saguenay, Quebec location.

The role of the Safety Advisor is to provide support in Safety, Health, and Environmental areas in an effort to prevent and mitigate employee injuries and illnesses.

The Safety Advisor will carry out incident prevention activities and ensure the development of safe behaviours and attitude required for a Health and Safety Culture.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Verify the effectiveness of the injury and illness prevention program in place and make recommendations to the field personnel;
  • Participate in the development of training programs;
  • Coordinate and conduct awareness and training activities;
  • Conduct H&S committees;
  • Ensure that the toolbox meetings are carried out frequently and properly documented;
  • Ensure the safety orientation and integration of new employees regarding H&S;
  • Establish PPE needs;
  • Conduct ergonomic assessments and propose corrective actions to promote injury prevention;
  • Stay aware of the legislative changes regarding H&S;
  • Perform all other related tasks related to workrelated accidents and disease prevention

Requirements:


  • Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma or Certificate;
  • 23 years of experience in a H&S role, preferably in the construction industry;
  • Excellent knowledge of H&S standards, laws, regulations and the fundamental principles of accident prevention and the regulations governing the construction industry;
  • Bilingual (an asset);
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong time management and organization skills in order to meet various competing deadlines;
  • Ability to selfmotivate;
  • Ability to work within a team and build a positive team environment;
  • Ability to adapt to an everchanging work environment with competing demands;
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion;
  • Ability to display sound and accurate judgement with the ability to resolve problems in a timely manner.

Salary:
$30.00-$33.00 per hour
