  • Application Deadline February 24, 2023 **We are currently seeking to expand our pool of Relief Addiction and Mental Workers at My Sisters' Place, and the London Coffee House. Working varying hours in our Day, Evening, and Weekend Programs, Relief staff perform duties and responsibilities consistent with providing a safe and welcoming environment to participants. These programs support participants who are homeless or at risk of homelessness; with the My Sisters' Place programs specifically supporting participants who identify as women.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

What you'll be making - $22.

33 per hour:

When you'll work:


  • Relief shifts will include days, afternoons, weekends, and statutory holidays. Relief staff have flexibility to accept shifts that suit their schedules up to a maximum of 44 hours per week, but will commit to accepting a minimum of four shifts per month.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

  • Provide a welcoming, safe, and trusting environment to support participants
  • Identify/respond to the concerns of participants with serious mental illness, substance use, trauma and/or homelessness
  • Engage with participants in identifying and developing personal capacities leading to selfadvocacy
  • Work with participants and help motivate/support them to work towards achievement of their goals
  • Assist participants in linking, liaising/connecting with appropriate community resources

Place Resting Spaces:
_ Coordinate with the City of London to accept, document and coordinate referrals to the Resting Spaces, using the HIFIS and CRMS databases

  • Assist with programming needs as necessary and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for logging and statistical gathering as required
  • Documentation as required
  • Crisis intervention, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Identify, promote resolution and management of all emergency situations concerning participants, staff and property
  • Make decisions both independently and collaboratively
  • Ensure effective communication with Director, staff team, and any partner agencies, and community services
  • Advocate for and support participants in accessing community resources
  • Provide assistance where required
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:


_Vaccination Requirements_

_We require the following qualifications:
_


  • Postsecondary education (university/community college) in social services or related field
  • Knowledge of London and area community services and resources applicable for this participant population
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to problem solve in situations of high stress
  • Demonstrated ability to work with participants who live with multiple challenges related to serious mental illness, marginalization, poverty, woman abuse/trauma, homelessness and substance use
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Ability to attend work regularly
