Trans Mountain operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast.

We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

The Engagement Coordinator supports all aspects of stakeholder engagement, communications, and Indigenous Relations for the Corporate Communications and Government and External Affairs division.

The coordinator provides financial processing support, event coordination, support for the Community Investment Program, support for Advisors to develop and deliver engagement strategies and communications to address stakeholders' interests; and completes necessary reporting.

This position will be based in Burnaby. This role will report to the Director, External Relations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Arranges logistics for events including but not limited to workshops, conferences, community events, internal celebrations and meetings, tours and speaking events; arrangements for participation at events; documentation of events.
  • Provides support for budget / finance processing.
  • Supports Community Investment Program including preparation of justifications, tracking and finance processing.
  • Drafts internal and external materials, reports, notifications and presentations for review and approval; drafts content for Mainline, Manifold, external website.
  • Responsible for External Relations key stakeholder list and membership list, completes complex mail merges and coordinates deliveries of materials to stakeholders.
  • Support for Joint Information Centre and/or Information Office in event of an emergency or Incident Command System training or exercises.
  • Responsible for External Relations storage in Still Creek office, including but not limited to tracking engagement and communications materials.

Position Requirements

  • Postsecondary education in Communications and/or Engagement/Consultation or similar field of study.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with stakeholder engagement and/or communications.
  • Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work independently in a timeconscious and timeeffective manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to navigate and facilitate difficult conversations.
  • Ability to work after hours or on weekends as required.
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team of project professionals.
  • Experience working on complex, high profile and contentious projects.
  • Membership or designation with IABC, CPRS, IAPP or equivalent is considered an asset.

Other Requirements and Information

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
  • This role is based at our Burnaby Office.
