The Opportunity:

The Behavior Technician provides intensive home-based mental health interventions to children 0-19 with severe mental health/behavioral disorders under the clinical supervision and in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

The Behavior Technician is responsible to implement assigned aspects of a care plan, assess the impact of interventions and contribute recommendations to the care team on changes to the care plan.

A Behavior Technician is paraprofessional certification in behavior analysis.

Under the direction of a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) the Behavior Technician assists in delivering behavior analysis services and practice.

Hours of Work:

8:30am - 4:30pm, some evening and weekend hours may be required based on operational needs.

Your Qualifications:

Registered Behavior Technician; or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care Studies, or an undergraduate degree and a graduate from a 2year accredited Child and Youth care diploma program; or an internal applicant currently working as a Youth Care Worker I in the IWK Mental Health and Addictions Program with five (5) years' experience in child and adolescent mental health and addictions required
Minimum two (2) years' experience delivering direct mental health and addictions care to a child and youth population required.
CYC Practitioner certification preferred.
Experience delivering evidencebased supports to behaviourally complex children/youth required.
Experience delivering evidencebased supports to children/youth with ASD/neurodevelopmental disorders required.
Current certification in first aid and nonviolent crisis intervention required.
Demonstrated commitment to familycentred care required.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently, with a minimum of supervision required.
Demonstrated commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration required.
Proven decisionmaking ability and demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations successfully required.
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time appropriately required.
Competencies in other languages as asset.
