The Opportunity:


The Behavior Technician provides intensive home-based mental health interventions to children 0-19 with severe mental health/behavioral disorders under the clinical supervision and in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

The Behavior Technician is responsible to implement assigned aspects of a care plan, assess the impact of interventions and contribute recommendations to the care team on changes to the care plan.

A Behavior Technician is paraprofessional certification in behavior analysis.

Under the direction of a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) the Behavior Technician assists in delivering behavior analysis services and practice.


Hours of Work:

8:30am - 4:30pm, some evening and weekend hours may be required based on operational needs.


Your Qualifications:


  • Registered Behavior Technician; or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Care Studies, or an undergraduate degree and a graduate from a 2year accredited Child and Youth care diploma program; or an internal applicant currently working as a Youth Care Worker I in the IWK Mental Health and Addictions Program with five (5) years' experience in child and adolescent mental health and addictions required
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience delivering direct mental health and addictions care to a child and youth population required.
  • CYC Practitioner certification preferred.
  • Experience delivering evidencebased supports to behaviourally complex children/youth required.
  • Experience delivering evidencebased supports to children/youth with ASD/neurodevelopmental disorders required.
  • Current certification in first aid and nonviolent crisis intervention required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to familycentred care required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently, with a minimum of supervision required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration required.
  • Proven decisionmaking ability and demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations successfully required.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time appropriately required.
  • Competencies in other languages as asset.
