About the role:
As an Early Childhood Educator at Compass ELC,
you'll join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to nurturing young minds.
You'll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible shift times within the program's hours (7 am to 6 pm).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead interestbased and playbased activities that reflect children's unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
- Documenting children's learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
- Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and wellbeing of children.
- Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
- Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
- Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
- Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
- Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
- Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
Requirements:
- 13 years experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
- Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
- Valid certifications including Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, Updated immunization records.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- OR; has a postsecondary degree in a similar field (i.e., Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Social Service Work, Bachelor of Education, etc.)
- OR; is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
