Description

The Development Planning Officer evaluates proposals for development, provides advice, participates, facilitates and consults as a representative of the Department with regards to zoning development and land use issues.

As the _Development Planning Officer,_
you will:

Your education and qualifications include:

Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Environmental Studies or a related field, or a Planning Technician Certificate from a Community College, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience working with the community in a participative and interactive manner.
Experience in public meetings, representing an agency in such situations.
Experience in dealing with the public.
Ability to establish and maintain respectful working relationships, including dealing effectively, with all levels of employees and the public.
Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to conduct public presentations.
Strong written communication skills including formal report writing.
Analytical and decisionmaking skills.
Knowledge of zoning bylaws, development procedure bylaws, the City of Winnipeg Charter and Plan Winnipeg.
Knowledge of contemporary planning and community service issues.
Working knowledge of health cities/health community's principles.
Ability to operate a personal computer and associated software (Word, Outlook, AMANDA, geographic information systems).
Ability to work in a team environment.

Conditions of employment:

The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's License. The successful applicant will be required to provide a driver's notice in force document upon request.
