Job Summary:


The University of the Fraser Valley is looking for friendly, enthusiastic, qualified individuals interested in working as temporary and on-call clerical and administrative support staff on our Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses.

These positions arise in a variety of departments due to work load volume, illness or other unforeseen circumstances.

Applicants must therefore be able to adapt to a variety of work environments and shift schedules, as well as meet the technical qualifications outlined below.

The auxiliary pool at UFV is a great way to get your foot in the door at the University. It provides an opportunity to work in a variety of departments and positions, gaining great experience.

Placements can be a couple of weeks in length, a couple of months, up to a maximum of 6 months.

A great number of auxiliary hires go on to earn longer term and permanent contracts at the University.


Qualifications:

Completion of a certificate in office administration from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent post-secondary education is required

Minimum one (1) year of recent administrative or clerical experience in a modern computerized business office environment


Successful applicants will have strong customer service skills, experience with minute taking, superior communication skills (written & oral), a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, team oriented, ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of people, understands and maintains confidentiality with the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy, works well under pressure, demonstrated professionalism, and adaptability to work in a variety of settings.

Some positions may require heavy lifting.
