Duties:

The Southwestern Ontario Field Unit has an exciting opportunity to join the HR team. The HR Assistant is an integral member of the team, and provides generalist, multifunction human resources support services. Work environment:


Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.


Parks Canada's Southwestern Ontario Field Unit is a geographical area that encompasses approximately 30,000 km2 of Canada's unique natural and cultural heritage.

From the picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake to the most Southern point of Canada at Point Pelee National Park, the Southwestern Ontario Field Unit offers a truly distinctive work environment.

On behalf of Canadians, we actively operate 4 National Historic Sites, 1 National Park and a Field Unit office in the most densely populated and diverse area of the country.


Intent of the process:

The intent of this process is to fill one temporary, full-time position until April 5, 2025.

Successful completion of a one year post-secondary program specializing in a field related to the functions of the position (e.g. Human Resources or Administrative field) OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).

Degree equivalency


Experience:


EX1:
Experience in organizing, planning and delivering administrative support services.

EX2:
Experience dealing with clients and/or the general public and providing exceptional client service.

A1:
Ability to manage and prioritize a diverse and changing workload in order to ensure good customer service.

Ability to conduct research of legislation or policies related to Human Resources (HR);

Ability to use computer software programs related to work (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Additional Experience:


AEX- Experience in the provision of human resources (HR) administrative support services in an office environment (for example: staffing, recruitment, resourcing, classification, occupational health and safety or labour relations).

AEX- Experience working within Parks Canda or the Public Service.


Operational Requirements:
Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and recommended personal protective equipment.
Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
