Position Summary


Reporting to the Manager, Real Estate and Property Management, the Cleaner is responsible for the general cleaning activities at one or more Dixon Hall locations.

The Cleaner will also be responsible for routine ground maintenance, including snow removal, minor repairs, and painting, as required.

The day-to-day duties of the Cleaner will be supervised by the on-site program manager at the location(s) where they are working.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for general cleaning activities at Dixon Hall locations, including Out of the Cold sites, as directed.
  • Perform routine ground maintenance, including snow removal, minor repairs, and painting, as required.
  • Work safely at all times following Health and Safety policies and procedures, and report any potential hazards, faults, or problems to the Manager or appropriate emergency contact.
  • Follow all program specific policies, procedures, and best practices for health, safety and infection control.
  • Work under the guidance of the agency and program policies and procedures, including the Mission, Vision and Values of Dixon Hall.
  • Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as assigned within the purview of the job description.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in using cleaning and maintenance equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in cleaning and maintenance.
  • Experience with the safe use of cleaning chemicals and fluids and understand requirements under WHIMS legislation.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills; able to read and understand basic cleaning instructions and information, including health and safety directives.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, clients, volunteers, the public and outside contractors in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Superior organizational and problem solving abilities; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, prioritize, take initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a diverse, ethnoracial, multilingual community setting.
  • Selfmotivated and able to complete required tasks with mínimal supervision.
  • Submission of a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening report.
  • Must be qualified to work in Canada legally for the employer.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a 'Clear' or satisfactory result that meets the operational requirements of the Agency.
  • Must have uptodate vaccinations against COVID19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
