What this role is all about:

We are looking for a passionate and results-oriented Human Resources professional to join our dynamic and energetic HR team as
Human Resources Business Partner.

Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, this is a key position that partners with all areas of the business to ensure all people matters are handled proactively and efficiently.

This individual is the face of HR to the credit union's branch network and the first point of contact for all related matters.

The incumbent also collaborates effectively with the HR team members and other departments to ensure our people, practices and culture are strategically aligned with our business goals to ensure our ultimate goal of providing a positive experience to all credit union members.


What you'll do:


  • Develops strategies to align organizational culture and employee engagement to Gulf & Fraser brand promise and service delivery model; ensures that HR strategies and tactical plans are aligned with Gulf & Fraser's strategy and business plan.
  • Contributes to organizational design, operational workforce planning and change management processes to ensure that G&F is appropriately structured and staffed to meet business needs. Partners with management to provide direction, assistance and consistency to the recruitment and selection process.
  • Fosters a positive and engaging work environment through consistent administration of company policies and collective agreement; coaches and guides management by advising in relevant legislation and regulations, labour relations and employment standards.
  • Partners with the Manager, Employee Relations to foster and maintain positive and proactive relationships with union leaders to ensure ongoing good communication and process practices. Maintains thorough knowledge and familiarity with Labour Relations standards and practices and all Collective Agreements.
  • Conducts thorough investigations in response to complaints or grievances. Leads and/or guides the performance management and disciplinary processes.
  • Partners with management, employees and external benefits providers to ensure disability case files are appropriately managed; coordinates the return to work process with all parties.
  • Advises and supports administration of total rewards programs; ensures internal equity and consistency with salary administration.
  • Leads HR projects as directed; collaborates with HR team member and partner departments on a variety of strategic projects.

A little about your qualifications:


  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Human Resources
  • 46 years' related and progressive generalist experience in Human Resources
  • Strong relationship management abilities
  • Strong communication and organization
  • Labour relations experience is a strong asset
  • CPHR accreditation is an asset
  • Valid BC Driver's License and vehicle access
  • Related experience in a credit union or other financial institution is an asset
