POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for developing communication materials, marketing campaigns related to digital and social media, to promote the department's programs and services.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creates/supports content development for social and digital media, innovative communications and marketing campaigns and strategies to promote department programs and services.
- Assists in the development and implementation of the department's annual social media strategy and initiatives.
- Monitors, posts and respond daily to social media and provides realtime communications to the public.
- Develops/captures photographs/videos that illustrate and promotes the various projects or events for the department, for social media and other digital platforms, as required.
- Provides support for promotional initiatives and programs within the department.
- Acts as Branch social media site moderator.
- Assists in the production of photography, videography presentations, exhibits and promotional displays.
- Recommends best media placement.
- Prepares and distributes enewsletters and public relations activities.
- Consults with department staff to develop cohesive and consistent standards and communication tools for use within the department.
- Ensures websites and social media content related to programs and initiatives are current.
- Reviews trends, best practices and innovative marketing techniques and provides recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Tracks and compiles program performance to ensure quality and demonstrated value.
- Participates in market research for the department to inform decisionmaking and the development of targeted campaigns and communications for social media.
- Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
- Participates on committees, work groups, task forces and special projects, as assigned.
- Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a College Diploma in Journalism, Communications, Media Marketing, Business Administration, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in design and delivery of marketing and/or communication programs and services, including development of marketing and communications initiatives to assist with print, and digital media.
- Demonstrated experience in the coordination of events and public engagement.
- Strong editing, writing skills and creative skills.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license free of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.
