We require a caring, innovative, experienced, and forward-thinking educator to perform the role of Principal.

The Robarts School for the Deaf is a day and student lodging school with a rich heritage and longstanding history of educating students who are Deaf and/or hard of hearing.

As a Principal for this school, you will promote the education, social and emotional growth of the students within the school.

You will:

Be a caring, innovative, and experienced educator and leader with an indepth knowledge of bilingualbiliteracybicultural education for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Effectively manage financial, human, and material resources.
Support student success by ensuring that the quality of educational programming and curriculum at the school is compliant with the Ontario curriculum requirements.
Support and lead change initiatives.
Influence others to adopt a desired course of action.
Build relationships between various staff groups and lead datadriven decision making and progress monitoring.
Lead others to adopt a desired course of action for student achievement and wellbeing.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively with stakeholders to meet mutual goals.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.

What we are looking for:

Qualifications:

Valid certificate of registration and qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers.
Principal Qualifications Part 1 & 2 required.
Deaf Specialist/Teaching Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
ASL/LSQ Communication Specialist and/or Aural and Oral Communications Specialist.

Skills & Abilities:

Experience in a leadership position.
Knowledge of both elementary and secondary panels.
Knowledge of the requirements for students who are Deaf and/or hard of hearing.
Excellent knowledge of the Education Act/associated regulations, the Ontario Curriculum, and the education of Deaf students.
Welldeveloped communication, interpersonal, supervisory, and management skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of both elementary and secondary panels.
Knowledge of the accessibility needs for students who are Deaf and/or hard of hearing and/or severe learning disabilities.
Ability to provide exceptional instructional leadership to staff.
Demonstrated analytical, problemsolving, and strategicthinking skills.
Demonstrated leadership competencies.
Flexibility in thinking.
English communication skills (verbal and/or written).
Fluency in American Sign Language.
