Position
We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Partner (HRP) to join our team.

This position will work with program leadership to provide high-quality advice and support in the areas of labour and employee relations, collective agreement and policy interpretation, performance management, investigations, Disability Management, Occupational Health and Safety etc.

We are looking for an experienced communicator with advanced relationship management skills and the ability to build productive partnerships with leadership, employees, and union representatives.

Position Accountabilities

  • Encourages and supports a positive and collaborative labour relations environment by working effectively with the Union and its staff representatives.
  • Develops collaborative relationships with the leadership teams of the assigned group of programs; becomes an integral member of those teams as a trusted advisor.
  • Ensures advice complies with the collective agreement, legislative requirements, industry standards and corporate policies.
  • Manages the grievance process, liaising with legal counsel as required; prepares for and participates in arbitrations and mediations in conjunction with the HR leadership.
  • Works with HR leadership and key stakeholders to create, develop and implement effective organizationwide human resources initiatives, polices and processes.
  • Provides counseling and advice to management on performance management processes and issues, such as evaluation, engagement, recognition, coaching, discipline, attendance, and termination; ensures processes support the organization to achieve its goals.
  • Acts as the primary resource for health and wellness and return to work programs including EAP, LTD, EDMP, and Accommodation to ensure staff are supported in their mental and physical health; stays up to date on industry and organizational best practices on these issues.
  • Plays a lead role in Occupational Health and Safety for the assigned programs; implements and maintains a functioning health and safety program and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee at each worksite; oversees OHS claims and record keeping processes.
  • Acts as a direct resource to managers in areas of staffing, training, performance management, occupational health and safety, employee wellness, labour relations.
  • Provides advice and guidance to managers pertaining to the interpretation and administration of the collective agreement for staff represented by the BCGEU, including investigation and discipline processes.
  • Gains insight into the operational and service delivery requirements of the assigned programs including strategy, longterm goals, staffing/talent levels, opportunities, and challenges; identifies and provides strategic human resources solutions.
  • Completes independent projects within the scope of the role to design and implement enhanced HR processes and services, or components of more complex projects on behalf of the HR team.
  • Supports/backfills other Human Resource Partners as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A postsecondary education in Human Resources, Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • Nonprofit experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of Labour relations and human resources/ generalist experience, including Health and Safety and disability management
  • Excellent computer skills in
