We are seeking a skilled and creative Pastry Chef to join our team at Atrium Banquet Centre.

As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating and preparing a wide variety of delicious pastries, desserts, and baked goods.

You will have the opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise, develop new recipes, and contribute to our menu offerings.

We are looking to hire an experienced pastry chef

We are looking for an individual that has the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure. Work in a creative manner and work independently. Be part of a great team and produce consistent quality products for both retail and plated desserts.

Wage will be based on experience and skill level.


Availability:
Must have a flexible availability (able to work weekdays and weekends)


Responsibilities:


  • Follow proper pastry preparation techniques and coordinates the use of time, material, and equipment to avoid waste and unnecessary expense.
  • Meet tight deadlines with good time management skills
  • Inspect and maintain the quality of the ingredients and measure them for specific recipes;
  • Maintain hygiene, cleanliness, and health & safety in accordance with Food Handler certification program
  • Must be energetic with a passion for food and a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance
  • Demonstrate strong organization skills, ability to multitask
  • Have a passion for baking bread, loaf cakes, pies, tarts, cookies, etc.
  • Excellent presentation of food items
  • Knowledge of bakery/kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of dough, icings, fillings & flavor combinations
  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene
  • Strive to exceed our performance expectations and goals along with your own
  • Are energetic, enthusiastic and can work independently
  • Are able to maintain a high standard of quality and service in a fastpaced environment
  • Ability to stand for 89 hour shifts, lift 20 lbs when required and perform regular
  • Represent our brand and values and effectively demonstrate our attitude towards customers and team members
  • Responsible for the daily production of fresh bread & baked items
  • Responsible for ordering department products and maintain a budget on a weekly basis
  • Will assist the kitchen with prepared food production as required
  • Must be able to produce high quantity of items in an effective timely manner
  • Comfortable meeting with clients to discuss wedding cakes

Preferred Qualifications and/or Experiences:


  • Food Handlers Certificate (open to obtain upon hire)
  • Proven experience working as a Pastry Chef in a professional kitchen.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification in Pastry Arts. (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry ingredients, and flavors.
  • Creativity and artistic ability in creating visually appealing pastries.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining highquality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced environment, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Specific Skills

  • Frost and decorate cakes and baked goods
  • Bake mixed dough and batters
  • Prepare dough for pies, bread, rolls and sweet goods, batters for muffins, cookies and cakes and icings and frostings according to recipes or special customer orders
  • Prepare and decorate wedding cakes
