Project Mgr, Store Planning and Construction - Mississauga, Canada - Rexall Pharmacy Group ULC
Description
Reporting to Director Construction & Design, manages and administers the construction and delivery of new retail facilities and/or alterations/modifications to existing facilities, to include contract preparation, on-site coordination, quality control, and all aspects of contract management.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Participate in the planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for major construction projects; provide conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, and cost estimates, and coordinate the production of basic design plans and construction documents.
- Develop and administer project budgets and fiscal controls, contracts, and quality controls; performs project cost estimating and value engineering, as appropriate.
- Oversee all aspects of the daytoday management of construction projects; monitors and coordinates work performed by architectural, engineering, and construction firms.
- Review and interpret proposed designs, architectural drawings, and building specifications and initiates revisions where appropriate; advise consultants and clients on how to achieve required results.
- Ensures that project operations are in compliance with design specifications and with provincial and federal policies and laws.
- Establishes performance and delivery criteria, ensuring that all requirements are being met; prepares project specifications, and asset procurement, as appropriate.
- Authorizes the issuance of contracts, purchase orders, and change orders, and approves contractor invoices for payment.
- Directs work sequencing to expedite project delivery and to minimize disruption of ongoing store operations.
- Inspects, approves, and accepts completed projects for Rexall Pharmacy Group ULC, ensuring conformance with standards, building and life safety codes, and architectural/engineering specifications.
- Represents the company in business with customers, consultants, contractors, and other public and/or private agencies and organizations.
- Work multifunctionally with various internal and external departments to discuss project details and requirements.
- Coordinate with various internal and externals approvals (i.e Municipal Agencies, building permits etc).
- Evaluate building and store design concepts to ensure compliance with all health and safety standards to ensure a safe environment for staff members and customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Rexall Pharmacy Group ULC
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- 23 years College diploma in a Construction Management or relevant field; or equivalent minimum 7 years related experience.
- Able to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Able to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
- Records maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of architectural design and planning principles and procedures.
- Ability to develop and present building estimates and feasibility studies.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints and/or technical manuals.
- Technical knowledge of building components and their function.
- Knowledge of building components life cycle values and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to provide technical guidance and/or supervision to architects, structural engineers, and independent building contractors.
- Knowledge of procurement rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of the operating practices of construction, architectural, and building firms.
- Ability to negotiate and manage contractual arrangements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Ability to assess contract compliance and product/service quality.
- Ability to foster a cooperative business environment.
- Skills in workflow analysis and management.
- Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windowsbased operating environment, AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of federal, provincial, and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Ability to make complex operating, administrative, and procedural decisions.
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a teamsetting.
- Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
- Ability to perform site inspections and/or approve installations.
