Compensation Range

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary


Continuing and Professional Education is a service unit within the Associate Provost, Academic Operations and Services portfolio of the UBC Okanagan Office of the Provost and Vice-President Academic.

The unit works closely with UBC Okanagan Faculties and Schools and their partners, to develop professional and continuing education credential programs.


This position works collaboratively with the Faculties to develop, lead and implement marketing and communication plans, programs, and activities that attract local and international learners to UBC for continuing and professional education.

This position takes a data-driven approach to their work, supporting the program development and delivery lifecycle from market research during concept development through to evaluating the effectiveness of strategies and tactics used during delivery.

The position develops and maintains templates to streamline marketing operations and maintain a common UBC Okanagan brand.

Organizational Status


Reports to the Director, Flexible Learning Special Projects and is part of the Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) team within the Academic Operations and Services portfolio of the UBC Okanagan Office of the Provost and Vice President Academic.

Works in direct partnership with both CPE and Faculty program staff with high accountability for achieving marketing/enrolment objectives and campaign deliverables on behalf of those programs in a team-oriented, entrepreneurial environment.

Work Performed


CPE Program Marketing and Promotion Consults with content providers and units within the partner academic and non-academic units on messages, audience, delivery and best practices for marketing and communications.

Determines the appropriate channel(s) and distribution of messages.- Responsible for project management of all aspects of campaign delivery (creative briefs, take-to-market plans, tactical briefs, timing plans and budgets).

Liaises with program staff for content and data requirements.- Designs and produces effective and visually appealing communications and promotional materials and digital assets to support the needs of CPE courses and programs.

Materials may include digital and physical signage, newsletters, presentations, digital and print ads, promotional products, social media content, posters and brochures.

Coordinates photo and video shoots as needed.- Develops, measures and reports on the success of marketing & communications initiatives.

Oversees the use of Google Analytics and other analytical software to ensure data is being collected and used when making marketing and communication deliverables and decisions.- Oversees CPE website and webpages in coordination with the CPE Support and Programming Analyst.

May make web updates up to an intermediate level of complexity.

Works with CPE Support and Programming Analyst for more advanced updates and changes.- Liaises with and/or oversees freelance and contract workers to ensure delivery of brand-aligned marketing & communications deliverables.


Support Concept Development- Works closely with the Educational Consultant, CPE during the concept development phase of a project to ensure a robust understanding of the target audience(s) characteristics and needs.- As needed, contributes to market analysis phase of the program lifecycle by researching labour market needs and program's operational viability.

May include conducting focus groups, environmental scans and competitor analyses and assistance with creation of reports for use in decision making.

Promote a common UBC Okanagan CPE brand- Drafts strategies, policies and templates to ensure alignment on internal
