Health & Safety Coordinator

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the incumbent is focus on heath and safety issues, such as preventing workplace accidents.

The Health and safety Coordinator job duties and responsibilities center around safety goals and often include:

Assist with the implementation and ongoing administration of CGL's occupational health and safety program.
Promote health and safety awareness among all employees with a focus on injury prevention.
Support workplace Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees as required.
Aid in investigating and reporting workplace injuries and incidents, including recommendation to prevent reoccurrence.
Investigate workplace hazard reports and safety concerns.
Develop safe work procedures, safety reports, and maintain appropriate records.
Compile and analyze safety statistics for hazard identification and monitoring.
Inspect workstations throughout the facility, make recommendations to improve safety and health standards, and undertake appropriate action when unsafe conditions have been identified or recommended by the Joint Occupation Health and Safety Committee.
Develop courses, prepare materials, coordinate and provide safety training and orientation to employees using a variety of media.
Coordinate Health, Safety and Wellness events such as emergency drills, flu clinics etc.
Conduct site inspections of air quality and sound levels.
Coordination of WHIMS, hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Interpret the Workers' Compensation Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and make recommendations to achieve and maintain compliance.
Assist with WSIB claims management and return to work planning.
May on occasion be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

$60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
