General Accountability:


  • Reporting to the Inventory Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for managing the inventory levels required to maintain the TTC revenue fleets and maintenance operations in support of the total user community base at the TTC. The Inventory Analyst will work to preset service level targets as outlined by the department goals and objectives.

Key Job Functions:


  • The Inventory Analyst is responsible for managing inventory asset levels and ensuring that the departmental targets are achieved

This involves:

  • Forecasting future needs and planning inventory levels by establishing appropriate ordering levels on a part by part, site by site basis
  • Utilizing inventory management tools/reports and statistical calculations to meet the business needs for both Inventory Management and the user community
  • Forecasting long term inventory supplier blanket contract needs in collaboration with relevant users and submitting to purchasing
  • Monitoring inventory performance targets and taking action on: backorders, inventory levels, expediting, obsolescence and inventory projects
  • Accessing, running and reviewing inventory reports to determine validity of requirements and providing advice, recommendations and assistance to user community regarding same, and resolving problems as required
  • Coordinating with user community, DIC personnel, CIC personnel, Buyers and Expeditors to ensure proper flow of inventory from date of order to receipt into warehouse for inventory availability to meet service objectives
  • Preparing a variety of correspondence, memoranda and TTC Board Reports for inventory amendments over $2.5M
  • Conduct periodic audit counts
  • Ensuring that inventory is kept current by identifying and analyzing slow moving, dated stock and obsolete material and taking appropriate action
  • Identifying parts for potential alternate sourcing for cost savings
  • Ensuring that all drawings and specifications are commercially correct before forwarding to Purchasing Section
  • Coordinating parts for catalogue and inventory levels for all new vehicle purchases, including verification of vendor/manufacturer information to ensure they meet with serialization and bar coding specifications established within the TTC and supplier
  • Working with user community, Quality Control and Engineering personnel to identify material that does not meet TTC specifications and coordinating with Purchasing and Stores areas for the return and replacement of the material in a timely basis in order to maintain revenue service levels
  • Conducting a complete and thorough review of capital and noncapital project requirements, i.e. validating account information, funding and project quantities and appropriate authorization prior to performing the upload to the Industrial and Financial System (IFS) to ensure inventory requirements are met
  • Producing and monitoring project requirement reports, and making the necessary adjustments to inventory levels in order to maximize utilization of the TTC's assets
  • Establishing objectives to ensure project requirements are fulfilled and documented upon project completion, including disposition of all unused material within the project timeframe
  • Requesting ad hoc Crystal Reports in order to review inventory from various perspectives
  • Participating in developing Crystal reports or Microstrategy dossiers
  • Establishing and maintaining accessible work processes and filing mechanisms so that during periods of absence (i.e. vacation) the function may be fulfilled by the designate
