Contract Full-Time; 13 Months

Salary Range:
$84,335 - $105,417 per annum

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton


Hours of Work: 35 hours per week; Monday to Friday; 8:30am - 4:30pm

The Region of Peel's Planning and Development Services Division is hiring Reporting to the Manager of Policy Development, the Intermediate Planner will undertake complex research and policy development assignments, provide expert interpretation of planning legislation, policies and guidelines, and advice and guidance on the development and implementation of programs related to planning and growth management.

The Intermediate Planner would contribute to work in a variety of policy focus areas that may include housing, growth management, employment, and age-friendly planning.

What you will do_

  • Provide professional and technical planning support
  • Provide support for complex planning research projects
  • Provide data collection, management and analysis
  • Provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) products and analysis
  • Conduct research and prepare background reports
  • Review and prepare comments with regards to Regional interests on matters related to growth management.
  • Prepare reports for Senior Management and Regional Council
  • Coordinate and/or represent the Division and Regional interests on steering committees, technical advisory committees and working groups
  • Consult with local municipalities, the development industry, consultants, property owners, legal counsel, the public, the province and other agencies

_ What the Role Requires__:
_**- Masters or Honours degree in planning or a related field together with a minimum of three years of experience in a responsible planning position

  • Areas of specialization could include growth management planning, policy planning, modelling and forecasting, demographics, economics, and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge of Provincial, GTHA, regional and local growth management issues
  • Knowledge of the Regional Official Plan, local official plans, the Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement and Growth Plan
  • Polished communication skills and a strong customer service acumen
  • Analytical mindset with abilities to provide timely solutions and proactive problem solving
  • Experience with working in a multidepartmental environment where most of the work is collaborative and integrated
  • Strong project management skills is an asset
  • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners is required

Location:

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive worksite.

The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.


Hours:35 hours per week, 8:30am-4:30pm; Monday-Friday
