Position Overview

  • As the IT Manager at Cabot Cape Breton, your role involves managing a dynamic and advanced IT environment to ensure all network and infrastructure across property works to support business operations and enhance guest experience. You will oversee daytoday administration and support across all facets of Information Technology systems. Your responsibilities extend to maintaining organizational effectiveness through strategic planning and implementation of systems, protocols and policies to ensure security and access are optimized at all times. Staying updated on industry trends, and the ability to respond quickly to unforeseen technical issues is crucial to optimizing Cabot's IT Operations.

  • Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Participate in strategic planning and manage the IT Capital and Operational Budgets for Cabot Cape Breton.

Data Security and Infrastructure Oversight: Ensure data security, oversee networks and systems, and manage service providers for Internet, phone, and TV.

Continuous Improvement and Compliance:Stay updated with industry trends, support business operations, and ensure compliance with security and safety policies.

Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Complete assigned duties by management, addressing various IT-related tasks as needed.


Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • Seniorlevel IT experience
  • Handson expertise in computer networks, administration, and installation
  • Highly proficient in LAN/WAN management
  • Diploma or degree in a relevant field
  • Advanced knowledge of software and hardware in a business context
  • Familiarity with POS & PMS systems both integrated and standalone (eg. Oracle Opera, Agilisys InfoGenesis, Yellow Dog, Great Plains, etc.)
  • Strong discretion in handling confidential information
  • Exceptional organizational skills for prioritizing tasks in a fastpaced setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in proposal preparation and budgeting
  • Competence in policy development and implementation
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Windows O/S, MacOS, Microsoft365, Azure, storage environments, Cisco switches, Ubiquiti managed switches and APs, Fortinet NGFW, FortiVoice PBX, SQL server, MDM, and mobile phone support
  • Ability to lead a small technology team
  • Expertise in disaster recovery and business continuity

  • As a seasonal resort business, you can anticipate a schedule that will involve day, evening, night, and
- weekend work.

  • Moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling and crouching while performing other duties is to be expected
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and otherwise exerting up to 50 pounds of force
  • Ability to ascend or descend stairs and ramps on an occasional basis
