Safety Coordinator - Greater Toronto Area, Canada - Siltech Corporation
Description
Siltech Corporation, a Canadian owned Chemical company, is looking to hire immediately 1 full time, permanent Safety Coordinator for our Mississauga, Toronto and future Fort Erie facility.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for the proactive, day-to-day delivery of Siltech's Health and Safety (H&S) program including training, aids in the identification and elimination/mitigation of potential safety hazards, reports on H&S performance metrics and delivers improvements to the H&S aspects of Siltech's management systems.
- Manages compliance with all municipal, provincial and federal H&S regulations
- Coordinates the delivery of company H&S programs
- Assesses H&S hazards and risk
- Provides, or arranges for, H&S education and training for employees
- Carries out site safety inspections, exposure assessments, and audits
- Conducts or assists with incident investigations
- Identifies and provides solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards
- Evaluates PPE suitability and assists in the selection of PPE
- Champions behaviour observation and interaction.
- Coaches employees on health and safety best practices.
- Participates on plant Joint Health & Safety Committees.
- Suggests and implements new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with changing regulations.
- Participates in process safety and operational reviews of new products and process modification.
- Monitors operational processes and employee activities for safety leading indicators.
- Generates assessment documentation, incident and accident reports, and health and safety goal updates and progress reports.
- Prepares regulatory agency reports.
- Keeps abreast of the latest Health and Safety trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.
- Able to travel between Siltech facilities in the
GTA:
Toronto (East York), Mississauga, and Fort Erie (2024/2025) on a daily basis.
Required Knowledge
- OHSA, WSIB and other federal, provincial and municipal health and safety regulations
- Occupational and emergency safety procedures
- Familiarity with environmental safety standards
- Familiarity with Employment Standards Act
- Familiarity with Process Hazard Analysis
- Root Cause Investigation
- Bachelors, Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Ontario, Industrial Hygiene, or other safetyrelated accreditation or petrolchemical industry experience
- 5 years of Plant experience required, preferably in a Chemical Plant
- Knowledge of Chemical Batch Operations is an asset
- Engineering degree or technology diploma is an asset

$70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
