Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, Maintenance Workers are responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, building services and grounds of the facility.
Essential Functions:
Support the mission, vision, goals, and philosophy of Valley View Villa. - Comply with the policies, procedures, regulations and standards of care for Valley View Villa.
Promote a "caring community" work environment supportive of the individual's independence, dignity, and well being. Strive to maintain / improve skills and education necessary to successfully fulfil job requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality with all job-related information acquired during work hours.
Demonstrate effective communication skills to maintain a positive rapport with residents, families, co-workers, general public and other work-related professionals.
Ensure a clean, comfortable and safe environment is maintained.
Comply with the established Infection Control program.
Respond to facility emergencies in accordance with the established facility plan.
Job Description-Maintenance Worker
Perform heavy lifting and storage of equipment and supplies for all departments using proper lifting techniques and / or proper use of mechanical devices.
Assist with maintaining laundry equipment, housekeeping equipment, and food services equipment.
Assist with housekeeping duties (stripping, polishing of floors), as assigned.
Assist in maintenance and repair of designated nursing equipment.
Distribute supplies to all departments, as per schedule. Assist in moving and relocating residents' furniture and clothing, as assigned.
Maintain and repair plumbing systems and a variety of plumbing fixtures such as faucets, sinks, toilets, and water heaters, as per preventive maintenance schedule, and/or as assigned.
Maintain the grounds, cut grass, and clear walkways of snow and ice.
Assist in maintenance and repair of facility vehicle, tractor, lawn mowers etc.
Properly operate, maintain, and repair equipment and tools necessary for performing maintenance tasks.
Responsible for removal of garbage from the facility to outside containers. Record usage of maintenance and cleaning supplies.
Record facility repairs as completed. Work independently, organize and complete assigned tasks.
Education and Experience:
Grade twelve (12) certificate or GED.. Maintenance experience an asset.
Valid driver's license.
Proficiency in the operation of tools and equipment used in general maintenance work.

Physical Effort and Environment Conditions:
Light to heavy physical activity,
Ability to stand, sit, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and maneuver comfortably in the work place for the duration of the workday.
Employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to work at Valley View Villa
