Job Specifications

Corporate Leadership

  • Incorporates a patient and family
- centred care (PFCC) philosophy into all work.

  • Facilitates teams through systems level evaluation activities intended to identify root
cause issues that will define opportunities for improvement.

  • Supports team navigation of the quality framework to guide quality improvement
initiatives.

  • Leads team through the designing of work systems with the aim of improving flow and freeing time for activities that directly improve patient experience, safety and outcomes.
  • Participates in the creation of a culture of critical inquiry through the utilization of
- information and data to support and evaluate quality improvement efforts.

  • Prepares reports, briefing notes and presentations for all levels of the organization,
including the Executive Team and Board Committees.

  • Supports assigned projects to achieve targeted improvements and develops reporting
and scorecard systems accordingly.

  • Establishes and nurtures a continuous improvement culture through coaching and
mentoring staff members participating in quality focused developmental opportunities.

  • Guides teams through the accreditation process by supporting the identification, d evelopment and implementation of initiatives that support maintenance of our
"Accreditation with Exemplary Standing" designation.

  • Supports integration of the patient experience in improvement activities and utilizes
patient experience measures to determine impact of improvement efforts as

appropriate.


Program Support:


  • Serves as a consulting liaison and resource for program and medical leaders in quality
planning, measurement and improvement initiatives.

  • Coaches and mentors directors and managers in planning and implementing program and
unit based initiatives in alignment with strategic directions and corporate quality

improvement plans.

  • Supports programlevel quality improvement planning and helps to e nsure initiatives remain on track according to a welldeveloped project plan and leveraging project management methods.
  • In partnership with Decision Support, reports on and review s performance indicators to
assist teams, departments, and units to identify areas that will improve care/systems and

to monitor and refine improvements.

  • Supports program, unitbased and corporate councils and committees, such as the Patient & Family Advisory Committee (PF AC ).

Education

  • Identifies and meets own learning needs by attending and presenting at conferences,
rounds, and initiating and participating in site visits.

  • Maintains expert skills/knowledge of standards, and best practices related to quality by
attending educational sessions and keeping informed of Health Centre policies and

procedures.

  • Maintains specific and up to date knowledge of national, provincial quality improvement initiatives and priorities.
  • Conducts presentations and educational sessions as required to support quality initiatives and the PRHC Clinical Information System.
  • Maintains current knowledge of quality/performance improvement literature, methods and tools.
**Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • 35 years experience in acute health care setting, quality improvement role or equivalent.
  • Proven e xperience in Quality Improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to provide service excellence for staff, physicians, patients and families.
  • Proven experience implementing continuous improvement strategies at direct customer level, combined with the ability to explain it in layman's terms.
  • Excellent problem solving, decisionmaking and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to engage, integrate, and consider multiple stakeholder perspectives.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple
