Duties and Responsibilities:


Responsible for the leadership and oversight of Student Life including strategic and program planning, people leadership, financial management, stakeholder relationship management, and operations.


Qualifications:


The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of leadership practices related to planning, policy development, financial management, program development/evaluation, performance and risk management, project management, contract management, customer service, and human resources
  • Knowledge of issues, trends, and challenges related to Carleton and the university sector with an expertise in student affairs and student life
  • Knowledge of contemporary best practices in Student Affairs and Student Life/Experience
  • Knowledge of the governing legislation
  • Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
  • Knowledge is deployed for purposes of solving complex and interrelated student success issues that require the development of strategies, programs and services

Education and Experience:

The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of seven years progressive experience
  • Minimum of five years in management and leadership roles
