Job Summary:


The City of Guelph is looking for hardworking, motivated team players looking to work at one of our environmental services facilities to help maintain the grounds and facility.

If you like working as part of a team, enjoy a variety of duties and like getting a little dirty this is the opportunity for you


Your Role
This position will require performing site maintenance and assisting at the hazardous waste depot. This position will also require excellent customer service skills when dealing with members of the public.


Duties include:

  • Meeting and greeting customers at the public dropoff and assisting with their waste disposal needs
  • Screening waste at the Public Drop off and Recycle Zone
  • Keeping drop off areas clear of debris
  • Performing lawn maintenance and litter cleanup at the Waste Resource Innovation Centre
  • Picking up missed waste throughout the City based on calls from the public

Qualifications

  • Valid G or G2 Driver's licence and a minimum of 2 years driving experience for positions that are required to drive a City vehicle
  • Ability to work with various small tools and equipment
  • Ability to perform physical work and in all types of weather
  • Comply with all applicable regulations and requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as all Federal, Provincial, and City of Guelph regulations, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work with or without supervision
  • Strong focus on quality customer service
  • Demonstration of community mindset through volunteering, community outreach and other initiatives is an asset
  • Experience in landscaping, construction, farming or other related experience is an asset

Hours of Work
40 hours per week. Your schedule will be provided to you by your Supervisor.

The hours of work may include Saturday shifts and potential to work split shift weeks (Monday - Saturday with a day off in between).

Current shifts are 8:45am-4:45pm Monday - Friday and 8:15-4:15 Saturdays.


Rate
$16.89 per hour
