The Laboratory Analyst's primary function is to provide a variety of finished product testing, maintaining an efficient laboratory, and supporting the corporation's food safety and quality programs.
DETAILED ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Wide array of testing for raw sugar, molasses, granulated sugar, liquid sugars and blends, icing sugars and soft sugars
- Management of microbiological samples program
- Management of environmental monitoring program
- Testing of inprocess samples and other samples as assigned
- Laboratory equipment verification and troubleshooting
- Documentation and analysis of results
- Preparation of necessary reports and trending information
- Procurement of lab supplies, chemicals, equipment necessary for efficient laboratory operations
- Records/documents review and verification with necessary follow up action
- COA program management
- Participates in all quality, safety and environmental training
- Practices and promotes GMPs and plant safety goals
- Interacts with various departments on issues related to sampling and documentation
- Interacts with other laboratory team members to ensure performance of various testing equipment
- Other tasks as identified
WORK EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Minimum two years' experience in similar role is preferred
- Degree or equivalent from accredited college or university, with major in food science or related field is preferred
- Capable of demonstrating good laboratory skills and techniques
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Control practices and procedures
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES):
- Capable of working 12 hours continental pattern shifts
- Able to follow instructions
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English
- Must be capable of troubleshooting and resolving issues in fast paced manufacturing environment
- Provides feedback on trends to quality management
- Works closely with other laboratory team members in order to maintain efficient testing, clean working environment
- Strong organizational, planning and decision making abilities
- Effectively assist quality management in food safety and quality investigations
- Proactive and motivated toward continuous improvement
