About the Position:


The Total Compensation, Payroll & Systems (TCSP) Manager will have a key role for the company in ensuring smooth operations related to total compensation (base + bonus + benefits), payroll and Dayforce systems management.

The Manager is responsible for providing a high level of client service to all stakeholders, including employees, HR, Finance, and external/government agencies.

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance and dotted line to VP, Human Resource, the TCSP Manager delivers accurate and timely payroll transmissions, assuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations, and company policies.


This role offers expertise related to the Dayforce system modules of payroll, compensation and benefits, ensuring Dayforce technology is fully leveraged for smooth and accurate operations.

Other responsibilities will include managing benefit programs and responding to employee inquiries.

Additionally, the Manager is responsible for the processing of accurate commission payments, journal entry preparation, reconciliations, Employer Health Tax (EHT), Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB).

Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and process efficiency are crucial for this role.


Key Functions and Responsibilities:


Finance - Payroll & Systems:


  • Prepare and administer biweekly payroll for all company employees, including commission and bonus payments, while auditing payroll reports for accuracy
  • Fully leverage Dayforce payroll functionality and ensure all payroll records are accurate and reliable at all times
  • Compile payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, insurance, and other deductions
  • Extract timesheets and review work hours for completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure all wage changes are made accurately and in time for effected pay periods
  • Follow payroll procedures for new hires, changes and departing employees
  • Remain current on requited payroll regulations, standards, and work methods
  • Ensure accurate processing of sick pay, benefits, and vacation payouts, as well as ROE issuance
  • Respond to employee and government agency inquiries regarding all areas of payroll and compensation
  • Ensure the creation and timely distribution of T4s
  • Complete yearend review and all necessary filings (EHT, WSIB, etc.).
  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of a variety of payroll related documents (e.g., invoices for overpayments, payroll register, stop payments, WSIB, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues; meeting compliance requirements, and providing audit references
  • Research discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing
  • Verifies a variety of payroll related information (e.g., time sheets, direct deposits, wage attachments, benefits, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate distribution of funds and payroll
  • Maintains a wide variety of payroll information, files and records for the purpose of providing an uptodate reference and audit trail for compliance
  • Communicates with various parties (provincial/federal agencies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accurate processing of payroll deductions/garnishments
  • Issue ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports

Human Resources - Compensation & Benefits:

  • Administration of Equiton's benefit plans including Group Health and Dental, Life and AD&D, Employee Assistance Program and Group RRSP according to established regulations/guidelines
  • Processing of the merit and shortterm incentive programs
  • Participate in the design and ongoing maintenance salary ranges
  • Support the creation and administration of the position evaluation process
  • Support the implementation and maintain ongoing administration of Equiton's Fund Matching RRSP
