    What can I expect to do in this role?

    In this role, you will:


    • provide group leadership for a variety of technical duties and program responsibilities associated with the day-to-day operation of the Visitor Centre facility including park store, equipment rentals, administration services including (permit sales, visitor inquires)
    • enforce provincial statutes within the park
    • ensure the health and safety of staff and park visitors
    • assist with staff supervision, training, scheduling, discipline, etc.
    • oversee staff in the park store, responsible for procurement, revenue generation, and food and beverage

    How do I qualify?

    Mandatory requirements:




    • You must have a valid class 'G' driver's licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
    • You have the ability to be designated as a Park Warden and meet ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force.
    • You are able to work shifts, weekends and holidays as per schedule.

    Technical knowledge:




    • You possess knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply relevant acts, regulations, policies and principles related to resource management, park management, purchasing, and budgeting as well as public health and workplace safety (eg. Occupational Health and Safety Act).
    • You possess a general knowledge of building, grounds keeping and utility maintenance.
    • You have knowledge of safe food handling practices.

    Leadership and supervisory skills:




    • You possess proven leadership skills to provide team leadership to a variety of park staff.
    • You possess supervisory skills to assist in day-to-day management and park operations.

    Communication and interpersonal skills:




    • You possess well developed communication skills to enforce park rules and regulations and to provide accurate information to staff, service providers and visitors.
    • You possess interpersonal skills to effectively respond to inquiries and handle complaints tactfully and with discretion.
    • You have demonstrated written communication skills to complete required reports, training records, maintenance logs, revenue reporting and to provide correspondence to staff, service providers and visitors.

    Analytical and problem-solving skills:




    • You possess critical thinking skills to identify and analyze operational issues and challenges, provide recommendations and implement solutions.
    • You possess well developed planning and organizational skills to schedule staff work hours, deal with competing demands, meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
    • You have the ability to use good judgement to effectively enforce park rules and deal with difficult situations.

    Essential skills:




    • You possess mathematical skills to collect fees and perform record keeping and purchasing duties.
    • You are proficient with a variety of computer software applications, databases and systems (e.g. word processing, record keeping, reservation systems and databases, electronic mail, etc.).
