INCLUSIVE EDUCATION CASE MANAGEMENT

The School District
Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suweten peoples.
The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle.
This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC.
We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education
- Minimum completion of 3rd and 4th year level university course work necessary for teaching the senior level curricula that are part of this assignment.
- Completion or partial completion of a professional certification or university degree program in Special Education
- Completion of the BC CASE Inclusive Education course.
- Training in functional behaviour assessment and behavioural intervention strategies.
- Training or experience in the Response to Intervention model of supporting students who require assistance with their learning.
- Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
- Experience in IEP / IBI case management and working with intensive behaviour students.
- A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership with The Ministry of Education and Childcare.
- Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at the junior/senior grade levels.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to use inclusive instruction to meet the learning needs of diverse learners.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working from an inclusion perspective to address diverse learning needs
- Understand and use a traumainformed approach in professional practice.
- Experience and knowledge using competencybased assessment strategies.
- Experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student.
- Experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices to improve learning outcomes for students.
- Supporting every child in learning at high levels.
- Work closely with parents/guardian and caregivers and the broader community.
- The Board of Education Strategic Plan.
- Supporting equity, diversity and inclusion.
- Ongoing professional learning for the purpose of strengthening student learning.
- Making evidencebased, collaborative decisions about student learning in a professional learning community environment.
- Supporting Individual Education Plans (IEP) in a collaborative team environment.
- The TRC Calls to Action.
- Integrating Indigenous culture and Ways of Knowing into curriculum and learning activities.

- School District 91 has received approval from the Human Rights Tribunal allowing preferential hiring to persons of Indigenous ancestry. _The District may give preference in hiring persons of Indigenous ancestry who possess the necessary qualifications to increase the number of Indigenous staff to be more representative of the learners we serve._
