About the role:

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Temporary full-time
Laboratory Assistant to join our dynamic
Innovation & Portfolio Management team.

The
Laboratory Assistant is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by providing technical assistance and maintaining the laboratory, all laboratory equipment and test instruments.

Formula for success:

Drawing on your knowledge or experience in laboratory functions, you will receive, inspect, store and prepare donor samples according to approved work instructions.
Operate equipment required in the sample preparation and other processes.
Ensure working area is maintained in an orderly and safe manner. Use personal protective equipment as required.
Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, incubators, and environmental conditions in the lab.
Perform work in accordance with the provisions of the Canadian Blood Services' Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Desired education and skills:

Completion of secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably with a science background.
Minimum 2 years of related laboratory experience.
Able to work independently.
The ability to function as part of a lab team and demonstrate regular attendance is required.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

What you can expect:

Shifts/hours must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts which are based on operational needs. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays when required.
Physical requirements ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.)
