    Job description

    Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the Resource Nurse is responsible for inter and intradepartmental activities related to the day-to-day operation of hemodialysis including patient flow.

    Accountabilities:

  • Liaise with external organizations regarding patient transfers as needed
  • Active member of the department leadership team and will contribute to the development of strategies that will improve the overall functioning of the department creating effective patient flow, quality nursing care and positive patient experience
  • Responding to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patients' health status and consulting appropriate when necessary using Osler transfer of accountability principles
  • Supports ongoing quality improvement initiatives
  • Job qualifications

  • Current registration and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Completion of BScN preferred
  • A minimum of five years recent clinical practice experience in hemodialysis required
  • Recent or previous charge nurse experience in hemodialysis
  • Possess clinical expertise and demonstrated exemplary clinical practice in hemodialysis nursing
  • Has BCLS and C-Neph
  • Demonstrate strong team leadership and resource skills
  • Ability to organize daily nursing and health care aid assignments
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and lifelong learning
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication skills
  • Excellent priority setting and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate positive change in a high acuity and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate excellent patient assessment skills
  • Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to provide mentoring and guidance regarding the adherence to the CANNT nephrology nursing standards and practice recommendations as they relate to hemodialysis
  • Mentors all in-centre hemodialysis staff to practice according to Osler's policies and procedure's including infection control polices
  • Membership in CANNT and RNAO or related interest groups preferred
  • Excellent employment and attendance record required
  • Must be able to travel between Osler sites

  • Additional information

    Hours: Currently Monday to Friday, days/evenings, eight hour shifts (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
